Well, I've found a full-time job with benefits, but not the one I thought I would.  I am now working in a call center where I troubleshoot people's water heaters.  It pays $13 an hour and once my 90-day probation period is over I will have access to healthcare.  And all I have to do is listen to people scream at me over the phone all day for problems that I didn't cause and policies that I didn't write.

In other news, I recently watched the season 5 finale of MLP.  I thought the first two thirds of it were pretty good, but that ending felt rushed and forced, not unlike the ending of the first Equestria Girls actually.  I also couldn't help but wonder why only ONE villain was shown rising to power in each alternate timeline, or why so many of the timelines had the mane six ponies growing up to be pretty much the same people that they were in the main timeline.  To that end, I would like to share my take on how it would have gone down.

Without the rainboom, none of the mane six ponies would have gotten their marks that day.  Twilight would have given up on her magic studies altogether and would never have become Celestia's student.  Spike would not have been hatched that day.  Applejack would not have left Manehattan and likely would have grown up to be just like her aunt and uncle.  Pinkie would likely have grown up introverted and sullen, staying on the farm with the rest of her family.  There's no telling what Rainbow, Fluttershy, or Rarity would have done.  There's also no guarantee that any of the six would have met beyond those that already knew each other as fillies.

Ultimately, Celestia might have taken a new student, but I doubt they would have been as up to the task, or insightful, as Twilight was.  The Elements of Harmony would never have been found, and with nobody to stop her, Nightmare Moon would have overthrown Celestia and risen to power, plunging Equestria into eternal night.  She would have reigned supreme until Discord ultimately escaped his own imprisonment, at which point he would have quickly overthrown Nightmare Moon and remade Equestria in his own image.  Plus, with nobody to return the elements to the tree of harmony, the seeds of chaos that he had sewn prior to being overthrown the first time would have run rampant and unchecked.  Then the Crystal empire would have returned and Sombra would have begun expanding his own influence to the south, ultimately crossing paths with Discord.  Discord could have easily eliminated this new threat to his rule, but doing whatever he wanted to without consequence would have gotten boring by this point, so he instead would purposely prolong his feud with Sombra to keep things interesting, the resulting chaos from their war being an added bonus for him.  Chrysalis would have seized the opportunity to secretly manipulate both sides to her own benefit, being careful not to let on her true identity to either side, and allowing her changelings to feed while the two lords were distracted with each other.  This would have continued indefinitely if it weren't for Tirek's eventual escape, who would then begin feeding indiscriminately until he was powerful enough to pose a threat to both empires.  Chrysalis, realizing that her own bread and butter was now at risk, would then have convinced Discord and Sombra to broker an uneasy truce, though it's clear that both would plan to betray the other once Tirek was taken down.  It's possible that another villain we haven't even seen yet would also enter the mix at some point.

It is at this point that the Twilight from the main timeline would enter the scene and learn about everything that is happening.  She would probably materialize in the middle of a battle, and be driven away from the map.  She would likely run into various individuals working for Discord and Sombra, and would be convinced to help in the battle, until she stumbles upon Nightmare Moon, still being held captive by Discord, a shell of her former self.  Nightmare moon, curious about the existence of another alicorn, would then ask Twilight about her own existence, and Twilight in turn would tell her about Starlight Glimmer's actions that brought her there.  Nightmare Moon would then strike a deal with Twilight; free her from her prison, and she would help Twilight return to the past by any means necessary in order to set the timeline right.  When Twilight asks why she should trust Nightmare, the dark alicorn replies that after everything she has endured, she would rather be turned back into Luna from the get-go than have to suffer another moment in the current timeline.  Twilight agrees, and with Nightmare Moon's help, she makes it back to the map and goes back in time.

From there, Twilight duels with Starlight, as in the episode proper, and everything goes pretty much the same until they go back to the alternate future together.  This time, the barren wasteland is all that's left after Discord, Sombra, and Tirek have destroyed each other and everything else around them.  From there, Starlight would realize that her actions resulted in this path, and undo the damage to the timeline.  However, she would also reject Twilight's offer of friendship, instead leaving to do some soul-searching.  This would also allow her to come back in later episodes and actually develop as a character, instead of simply having her personality do a complete 180 because "FRIENDSHIP!"

Anyway, I would appreciate if someone could give me their take on this.
